À Punt will pay tribute to the Valencian actor Pepe Sancho over the next three Saturdays in July with screenings of three of his most renowned films. Born in Manises, Sancho was one of the most famous Valencian actors of his time. In the three films to be broadcast on the Valencian public television, he portrays illustrious Valencian characters.
On Saturday, 5th July, at 10 PM, the series titled 'Remembering Pepe Sancho' will commence with the airing of the film 'Taracón, the Fifth Commandment'. In this film, he plays the role of one of the cardinals who was pivotal during the Spanish Transition. Sancho masterfully captured the complexity of the character, showcasing both his public persona as a committed cardinal and his more human and vulnerable side.
The following Saturday, 12th July, at the same time, 'Letters from Sorolla' will be broadcast. On this occasion, the screen will portray Sancho as the Valencian painter Joaquín Sorolla. A faithful representation of the artist and his personality, based on letters and historical documentation.
Finally, on Saturday, 19th July at 10 PM, À Punt will screen 'Flor de Mayo'. In this film, Pepe Sancho will bring to life a rural man, hardworking and strong-willed. The movie is based on the novel by Vicent Blasco Ibáñez, a Valencian writer and journalist, depicting a family tragedy set in the maritime villages of Valencia at the beginning of the 20th century.
Three Saturdays, three films with masterful performances by one of the most acclaimed Valencian actors.
