In the past 24 hours, three boats have arrived in the province. Maritime Rescue has rescued two of them, which were at sea, while the third landed in Torrevieja. In total, they carried about 40 migrants on board, including three minors and a pregnant woman.

One of the boats arrived this Tuesday with 14 men and two women, one of them a six-year-old girl, while the boat that landed in Torrevieja carried 11 people on board, eight of them men, a pregnant woman, and a four-year-old boy and another six-year-old child. The third and last located boat transported 13 men.

The first precarious vessel was intercepted this Tuesday afternoon by Maritime Rescue at sea, near Cabo de la Nao. The rescue services transported the boat and the migrants to the port of Alicante, where the Red Cross activated its emergency response team for immigrants arriving by sea (ERIE AHIC).

Red Cross volunteers attended to the 14 migrants at the Port of Alicante. During medical assistance, a case of hyperglycemia was detected, requiring the migrant to be transferred to the hospital. Additionally, a burn was treated, according to the NGO.

The second boat arrived in Torrevieja early in the morning, landing on the coast of Punta Prima. From there, the Civil Guard transported the 11 migrants to the Alicante dock, where the Red Cross assisted all of them through its special activated team.

Regarding the third precarious vessel, also rescued early in the morning, it was intercepted at sea by Maritime Rescue, which transported 13 people, all men, to the port of Alicante to check their health status.

Socio-sanitary work

The migrants have been attended to by the Red Cross team, which has provided health and social support with various cleaning kits or new clothing. This was explained by Marta Marín, head of ERIE AHIC Red Cross in Alicante.

Marín indicated that "this year we have noticed a slight change regarding the arrival of migrants, as they present greater vulnerability." In terms of health issues, she noted that more people are arriving with diseases such as "diabetes or heart conditions." Regarding social and vulnerable profiles that have increased, she mentioned "breastfeeding babies, pregnant women or minors."
