Thomas Partey recently ended his contract with Arsenal, and his future was uncertain. However, serious allegations have emerged that could derail his plans. The Ghanaian player has been accused by three different women, according to a statement issued by the Crown Prosecution Service, which has granted permission to the Metropolitan Police to investigate the charges. The report states that one woman suffered two rapes, a second woman suffered three, and a third accused the midfielder of sexual assault.
The incidents are said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022, and Thomas Partey is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court in August this year. This could lead to a public and media scandal, which is why the Chief Crown Prosecutor has stated that the accused is entitled to a fair trial. The player was the subject of this investigation, which began in early 2022. In previous years, rumours pointed towards him, and the police already had him among their possible suspects. In November last year, the then Arsenal player was questioned by officers.
During the 'Gunners' matches, some banners could be seen with the phrase "Love Arsenal, hate rapists." The continuation of Thomas Partey at Arsenal was a mystery, as the player had many minutes under Mikel Arteta's orders and received offers to renew. The London club confirmed that conversations were taking place, but something happened that prevented an agreement. Whether it was sporting reasons or issues unrelated to football that hindered those negotiations, the fact is that Thomas Partey is in serious trouble.
