This is what the new hotel in Villena will look like: 81 rooms, gym, and two cafes

The Mayor of Villena, Fulgencio Cerdán, accompanied by the Councillor for Urban Planning, Parks and Gardens, Francisco Iniesta, announced on Tuesday the granting of the license for the construction of a new hotel, approved by the Local Government Board last Monday, March 31. This measure will address the growing tourist demand by expanding the hotel offer with 81 rooms.

The Department of Tourism, the Economic Development Office, and the Mayor's Office have worked to meet the need to expand Villena's hotel offer due to the major events it hosts. Therefore, the city of Villena, which currently has 350 tourist beds, will expand its offer with the construction of this new hotel, which will be located in the Boulevard area, opposite the IES Las Fuentes.

This new establishment, which will have a total of 81 rooms, will complement the existing hotel offer. The planned investment for this project exceeds €3,500,000, and the work is expected to be completed within two years.

The new infrastructure will be a new building constructed on a total area of 5,000 square meters, distributed over four floors, a basement, and a terrace. The design includes a parking lot in the basement, while the ground floor will house the reception, a café, and other services. The next three floors will have 27 rooms per floor, while the top floor of the hotel will feature a gym and a second café.

Cerdán highlighted that this process is already closed, so "the construction of the new hotel in Villena is a reality" and that "from the City Council, we will work hand in hand with the construction company to ensure this project comes to light as soon as possible."

For his part, the Councillor for Urban Planning highlighted other aspects of the Government Board, such as the tender for the drafting of the Municipal Market remodeling project, a necessary step to carry out this action. This preliminary step to the remodeling, which has a budget of €38,000, is included in the framework of public building renovations being carried out by the City Council.

Members of the municipal corporation took the opportunity to inform about the reopening of the Pyramid Park, which took place last weekend, following the completion of its renovation works. This intervention, with an amount of €455,000, solves the existing water collection problems around the pyramid, which prevented its use. At the same time, this renovation has allowed the inclusion of different green areas and inclusive children's play spaces in its surroundings. For this purpose, more than 600 plants have been incorporated, creating new sustainable spaces in Villena.

The Economic Development Office continues to work on the internal remodeling of the Pyramid and its possible uses. The execution of this work was halted by municipal technicians as it was not carried out according to the project. The review, modification, and new drafting of the project, which caused the prolongation of the intervention, have solved the insulation problems on the park's ground, which caused leaks in the underground parking.

The representatives of the Government Board also announced the imminent opening of the María Auxiliadora Park. The urban actions in the Telarete area and the San Antón neighborhood are also nearing completion. In this case, there was a slight modification of the intervention to respect part of the wall, which is classified as a Cultural Heritage Site.
