Cybercriminals have found a strong ally in technology. Terms like 'phishing', 'pharming', 'spoofing', and 'PA' are becoming popular. These are the techniques they use to obtain customers' data and access their accounts. The main problem is the uncertainty these generate.

For this reason, Facephi, an Alicante-based company leading in digital identity verification and management solutions, and ITI, a private technological center specializing in ICT, have joined forces to create a technology based on Generative AI and DL focused on preventing "presentation attacks" (PA). These attacks involve identity theft using fake documents.

The technology that Facephi and ITI are working on focuses on one of the most common tools to facilitate customer acquisition without the need for travel: digital onboarding. Like any other tool used in a remote and unattended environment, it must be equipped with a series of measures to prevent identity theft or the creation of fake identities.

Therefore, "when a user takes a photo of their document, the photograph is analyzed by a fraud desk composed of people who work to ensure the authenticity and veracity of the document in a short response time, as the customer expects to receive the information as soon as possible," according to Raúl Hussein, Director of Advanced Data Analysis Services at ITI and scientific leader of the project with Facephi.
