Electric mobility in the Community of Madrid takes a qualitative leap with the inauguration of the capital's largest rapid charging station, located in Leganés.
Resulting from the collaboration between Iberdrola and the Community of Madrid, this station redefines the electric vehicle charging experience, offering an unprecedented infrastructure in terms of size and capacity.
The crown jewel of this new facility is its 47 charging points, 15 of which are ultra-fast, capable of filling 80% of a vehicle's battery in less than fifteen minutes.
This translates to a range of 200 kilometres with just five minutes of connection. In addition to these points, the station has 10 fast chargers that complete the charge in half an hour and another 22 semi-fast ones, offering options for all types of drivers' needs.
Iberdrola has been responsible for installing all these charging points and will assume the operation and maintenance of the station. A distinctive and highly efficient feature is that all 47 parking spaces are equipped with solar panels. This not only maximises the energy efficiency of the station itself but also allows for the supply of nearby renewable energy to up to 100 families or businesses, helping them save on their electricity bills.
The distribution of the charging points is very varied, including eight 350kW spaces and seven 240kW spaces (both ultra-fast), ten 60kW spaces (fast), and 22 22kW spaces (semi-fast). Its strategic location next to the Parque Polvoranca commuter station (Leganés) allows users to choose the most convenient type of charge based on the expected parking time, thus optimising their time.

The project is part of the MOVES Singular Projects II programme, framed within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and financed by the European Union through the IDAE.
Located in a privileged enclave with an influence of 750,000 inhabitants between Leganés, Getafe, Fuenlabrada, and Alcorcón, and with excellent connections to key motorways such as the M-406, M-407, M-409, and M-50, this 1,260 square metre station becomes the second public land charging hub operated by Iberdrola under a lease agreement with Planifica Madrid. This advancement aligns with ANFAC's Electromobility Barometer, which shows a 32% increase in public charging points in 2024, with Madrid leading the country in electrification.
