In November 2022, Porsche unveiled the 911 Dakar, a sports car as effective off-road as it is on secondary roads. Its standard ground clearance is approximately 50 millimetres higher than that of a 911 Carrera with sports suspension.
Among its specific off-road features are red forged aluminium front and rear towing eyes, as well as widened fenders and side skirts. The twin-turbo six-cylinder engine with three litres of displacement, delivering 480 horsepower (353 kW) and a maximum torque of 570 Nm, offers impressive performance with a distinctive and passionate boxer sound.
After producing 2,500 units, Porsche bids farewell to the 911 Dakar with the delivery of a special Sonderwunsch model at the Zuffenhausen plant. Extensively customised and detailed, it is a commission from an Italian sports car collector.
The limited edition model has been showcased at the Porsche Museum, not without first receiving the full Sonderwunsch treatment, which includes an exclusive three-tone paint job. Signal Yellow and Gentian Blue metallic perfectly complement the Rallye design package, evoking the look of the 1984 Paris-Dakar winning vehicle. A blue stripe painted between the two large colour areas completes the ensemble. This final shade, named Lampedusa Blue in honour of the Italian Mediterranean island, was created in collaboration with the car's new owner.
The alloy wheels of this unique specimen are also painted in Signal Yellow, with the rim in Lampedusa Blue. The decoration was done entirely by hand and in close collaboration between the client and Porsche designers. The Matrix LED headlights are highlighted with a Lampedusa Blue ring. The stainless steel protective elements present at the front and rear, as well as the side skirts, are black.
Inside, more yellow appears in contrast with black. For example, in the stitching and trim strips on the dashboard, centre console, and door panels. The "911 Dakar" inscription is embroidered with Speed Yellow thread on the headrests of the Sports Plus seats. The gear selector of the eight-speed PDK transmission is enhanced with a Speed Yellow leather insert. Upon opening the doors, LEDs project the Sonderwunsch logo onto the ground. Due to its extensive customisation, this 911 Dakar was crafted to the end in the special orders section.
