'The Thirst of the Earth' is the proposal with which artist Pilar Sala has filled the interior of the Garrigós Wells with art. This marks the first exhibition at the Water Museum of Alicante in its 2025 cultural programme.
The project aims to reflect on the importance of water, as this element allows the earth to bear fruit and supports the growth of the plant ecosystem, "so crucial in human development," Sala explains.
This exhibition features a dual installation, both physical and multimedia, housed in two of the Garrigós Wells in Alicante. All of this is designed to offer an introspective experience to the visitor.
Thus, the first of the wells features a central installation titled 'Tree of Life', showcasing paper obtained through an alchemical process directly from plants. Pilar Sala thus demonstrates her work in developing the potential of plant textures.
Additionally, various videos and superimposed projections complete Pilar Sala's work in the second well, with 'Thirsty Nature' serving as a metaphor for gardens.
The exhibition 'The Thirst of the Earth', curated by Marina Yvette, expands Pilar Sala's national and international trajectory, as well as the research based on artisanal techniques she has developed. It also suggests a reflection on water and the plant ecosystem.
