Alerted by a neighbour and the swift action of the National Police, two thieves attempting to rob a home in Orihuela were apprehended. Officers caught the alleged criminals in the master bedroom with several pieces of jewellery in their possession, according to TodoAlicante.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. when a neighbour alerted the National Police. A patrol car quickly arrived at the scene. Upon entering the residence, officers found the door forced open. Inside, they discovered two suspects in the master bedroom, which was in complete disarray.
As officers moved to arrest them, the suspects began to struggle in an attempt to escape, but were ultimately taken into custody. One of the detainees was found with a knife, which he did not brandish, according to the same sources.
The detainees, two Algerian nationals aged 29 and 48 with prior records, have been brought before the Orihuela courts. The case was successfully closed thanks to citizen cooperation and the efficiency of the National Police.
The collaboration between residents and authorities is crucial for ensuring the safety and well-being of a community. Residents are most familiar with their surroundings, streets, and the people who frequent the area. This familiarity gives them an advantage in identifying suspicious behaviour or unusual situations.
The National Police of Alicante expresses gratitude and urges residents to collaborate for a safer province. When residents feel involved and promptly alert authorities to any irregularities, they help prevent crimes and reduce response times, which can be crucial in thwarting criminal activities.
