Thief Exploits Sleeping Train Passengers to Steal Belongings
Local Police in Elda Arrest Suspect After Witness Reports Seeing Him Disembark at the Station

Officers from the Local Police in Elda have arrested an individual suspected of committing a robbery against a passenger on a train bound for Alicante who had fallen asleep. The police were able to locate and identify the alleged thief thanks to a description provided by another passenger, who witnessed the theft and alerted the Local Police, indicating that the perpetrator had disembarked in Elda.
The officers proceeded to the station where they gathered information about the suspect's appearance and initiated a search in the vicinity. The suspect was found at the intersection of Sax Avenue and Novo Hamburgo Avenue. Upon identification, the Local Police officers requested him to reveal the contents of his pockets, which included a mobile phone, headphones, cash, and a credit card, all of which belonged to the robbery victim.
After being searched, and upon confirmation from the woman who had her bag stolen that all the items belonged to her, the 47-year-old man from Villena was arrested and taken to the National Police Station. The stolen bag and the rest of the items it contained had been placed inside a rubbish bin located near the station.
