National Police have arrested a man in Benidorm after he was caught hiding in the kitchen of a bar, having forced entry through a glass door with the alleged intention of committing theft. This was the second time the individual had entered this location, and he had been previously detained for similar offences in two other city establishments, according to the Police.
The operation began following a call to the 091 CIMACC room, alerting patrols about a possible robbery in a bar in Benidorm's leisure area. Upon arrival, officers found one of the glass doors to the establishment broken and proceeded to enter. Inside, they discovered a man hiding among the kitchen furniture, known to the Police for similar and repeated offences in other leisure venues recently.
Additionally, officers found a backpack in which the arrested individual intended to carry a large quantity of food products, primarily seafood, according to the same sources.
Repeat Offender
The arrested individual had already been detained for committing another theft at the same location a few days earlier. He also had a record of being investigated and detained as the perpetrator of six other thefts in the same bar within a month, as well as five more thefts in a hotel undergoing renovation, the latter occurring in just over a week.
As a result of the thefts in these other two establishments and the repeated criminal behaviour exhibited by the arrested individual, the acting court issued a restraining order of 300 metres from both locations.
Following police procedures, the detainee has been brought before the local magistrates' court.
