The jury of the XVII edition of the Cedma Awards unanimously decided on the morning of Thursday, May 8, to honour the following companies from Marina Alta with this award: Seguros Javier Serguí, Melic, Abahana Local Group, and Almendras Artigues.
The deliberation of the Jury members - Benito Mestre (president of Cedma), Vega Torró, Miguel Agulles, Sonja Dietz, Juan Carlos Juan, Rosa Llorens, and Esteban Cobos - was conducted in the presence of notary Teresa Albanell. The awards will be presented on May 29 at the Hotel Dénia Marriott La Sella.
Over 32 years, Javier Seguí has dedicated himself to the insurance sector, starting in a multinational where he became a regional director, and later opening his own agency in 2008. Beyond his profession, Javier Seguí is also distinguished by his significant involvement in society and his deep belief in entrepreneurship and social responsibility.
He has actively participated in business entities, collaborated with AECC, and is currently involved with Amunt against Cancer; he is integrated into the culture and festivities of Marina Alta through various entities, sponsors the Artistic Musical Group of Dénia and school sports events, was president of the Rotary Club in 2017/2018, and a founding member of Penya La Cata, a non-profit gastronomic group to promote and enhance the restoration of Marina Alta.
Melic is a project that promotes cultural and inland tourism in Marina Alta, launching initiatives such as "La ruta dels riuraus"; "Sunsets of music and wine" or the most recent "Passaport Cellers de la Marina Alta". It also has a physical store, Melicatesen, from where regional products, both agro-food and artisan, are promoted and defended through tastings and educational activities. This store has the SICTED tourism quality seal and is part of the Alicante Wine Route among others.
Luis Silvestre also stands out for his commitment to the associative fabric and social causes. He has been president of Multisecma and is part of cultural and sports associations, such as the Institut d'Estudis Comarcals de la Marina Alta, the Centre Excursionista de Pedreguer, or the Penya La Cata. He is also present on the boards of the Bancalet project and the "Riuraus Vius" Association.
With branches in Moraira, Calpe, and Benissa, Abahana Local Group was founded in 2000 and is a pioneer in managing exclusive holiday accommodations: villas carefully selected for their quality, privacy, and unique charm. It was a forerunner in the digital transformation of local tourism, launching one of the first websites specializing in holiday rentals.
The uniqueness of Abahana Local Group lies in the balance between advanced technology and exceptional human treatment, areas in which they have consistently invested since their inception. Installation of solar panels, ecological pool treatment, cutting-edge management and quality control systems, as well as alliances with local and regional suppliers, have made Abahana Local Group deserving of this award.
Juan Carlos Artigues is the third generation of a family business that currently bills more than ten million euros annually. Almendras Artigues (or Ametlas Artigues, as known in Pedreguer) is responsible for peeling and selling high-quality almonds to roasters, nougat factories, bakeries, and others. The entire process is automated and follows strict protocols and quality controls. It also has a retail store, Aracris Food, located in the Les Galgues Industrial Estate in Pedreguer, where they sell a wide range of bulk nuts as well as dried fruits, chocolates, and other products.
