These are the neighbourhoods in Alicante that will have new free orange zones for residents

San Blas (upper and lower), Campoamor, Altozano, Carolinas Bajas, El Pla-Hospital, and San Juan Beach neighbourhoods will not have blue or orange zone spaces. Alicante's Deputy Mayor, Manuel Villar, clarified the implementation of this measure and denied its launch in these districts.

Only two neighbourhoods in Alicante will soon have orange zones. These will be free for residents, as Villar explained on Tuesday. "It is a fundamental idea to protect the resident," he stated.

In this regard, Villar emphasised that the City Council has submitted a proposal to the Conselleria - pending approval - to increase these types of spaces by 3,000, distributed into 2,500 orange spaces - five out of every six free for residents - and the rest blue, with one out of every five being free.

The neighbourhoods of Princesa Mercedes, Benalúa, and Alipark will become orange zones, free for residents. With this, the City Council aims to anticipate the completion of works and the launch of the City of Justice, which "will affect parking" in the area.

The City Council is considering scenario one of the feasibility study, which is "the most limited in the expansion of the ORA." With this, residents in the orange zone will enjoy free parking, who currently pay 30 cents.

There is also a new proposal to allow residents to park in neighbouring districts in the orange zone, in addition to being able to leave their car for up to five days without moving it.

At the same time, Villar wanted to clarify "things that are not true," such as implementing blue and orange zones in the rest of the city's neighbourhoods; as well as advancing the construction of park-and-ride facilities.
