The heatwave continues in the province of Alicante. Such is the extent that maximum temperatures in the capital reach 33 degrees this Saturday, with an average of between 30 and 32 throughout the day.

Moreover, the maximum ultraviolet index, revealed by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), stands at ten points over the weekend in the city of Alicante.

Due to the heat, the state body has declared a yellow alert for extreme temperatures in the southern coast of the province of Alicante. It highlights that the maximums of 36 degrees "particularly affect the Orihuela area."

In this regard, Aemet points out that the highest temperature records during this Saturday "will occur in the pre-coastal area," colouring five regions of Alicante.

As a result, its municipalities are under this level of alert due to the extreme heat experienced this Saturday in the province of Alicante. Aemet intends to deactivate the alert around 8 p.m.
