While the city of Alicante anticipates the start of the Hogueras festival with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees, the interior of the province is under an orange alert this Wednesday, 18th June, due to storms and rain, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
The Ministry of Emergencies and Interior, through the Emergency Coordination Centre of the Generalitat, has activated the orange alert in the interior of Alicante due to the forecast of storms accompanied by likely "large hail and very strong gusts of wind" for this Wednesday, according to warnings issued by Aemet.
The warning, which will be in effect from 2:00 PM to 9:59 PM - according to the state agency - forecasts "large hail and very strong gusts of wind" and accumulations of up to 40 litres per square metre in an hour.
