Alicante takes a step forward in the improvement of urban bus transport with the reduction of frequencies on seven lines starting next Monday, December 2, and the installation of charging points for travel cards in the city's main thoroughfares, which will be operational by the end of the year. Specifically, the frequency of lines 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 10, and 14 will improve by between one and ten minutes, enhancing service efficiency and increasing passenger capacity.

From Monday, line 1, connecting San Gabriel-Ciudad Elegida, will have a frequency of every 11 minutes during the winter season, instead of the current 12. Throughout the year, line 3 buses, running between Ciudad de Asís and Colonia Requena, will also operate every 8 minutes on weekdays, every 9 minutes on Saturdays, and every 13 minutes on Sundays, instead of every 9, 10, and 15 minutes, respectively.

The frequency of line 6 buses, connecting the Bus Station with Juan XXIII, will also improve by one to three minutes on weekdays and Saturdays, operating every 11 and 12-15 minutes, instead of every 12 and 13-16 minutes, reducing the holiday frequency by four minutes to every 16 minutes instead of the current 20.

Line 8, between Rambla and Virgen del Remedio, will improve its frequency by two minutes, operating every 11 minutes on weekdays and 13 minutes on Saturdays, reducing holiday frequency by four minutes to every 13 minutes instead of the current 17.

Line 10, connecting Rambla with Vía Parque (Vistahermosa), will gain one minute on weekdays with a new frequency of every 11 minutes and two minutes on Saturdays with stops every 13 minutes. On holidays, the improvement is five minutes, establishing a frequency of every 16 minutes instead of the current 21.

Finally, line 14, running between Gran Vía Sur and Avenida de Denia (Jesuitas), will see the most significant improvement, reducing its weekday frequency by 10 minutes to every 20 minutes instead of the current 30.

In summer, line 2, between La Florida and Sagrada Familia (El Pla), will also be incorporated, reducing its schedule to every 11 minutes, gaining one minute over the current schedule.

The urban bus fleet managed by the concessionaire Vectalia Mia has gradually incorporated 23 fully electric buses this year, along with 20 hybrids, making the Alicante fleet one of the most sustainable in the Valencian Community, while also improving service quality and efficiency.

Similarly, the concessionaire Vectalia MIA has begun installing public charging points for renewing travel cards, compatible with the TRAM and intercity buses. A total of 20 devices will be installed near key mobility nodes: bus station, railway station, TAM office, Alfonso el Sabio, Rambla, Federico Soto, University of Alicante, and General Hospital, among other locations.

"The new public transport charging points in the city will allow the renewal of TAM cards with cash and credit card. Our goal is to have them operational by the end of this year, fulfilling the plan for service digitalisation," explained the Mobility Councillor, Carlos de Juan.

The councillor also mentioned that "this service digitalisation will also include the development of an app for users to recharge their travel cards directly on their mobile phones."
