Fitur's first two days have been the perfect setting for Alicante-Elche Airport to grow, looking forward to 2025 with great enthusiasm after surpassing all passenger and flight records last year with over 18 million passengers.
The Generalitat has already shown its intention to seek direct connections with markets such as the United States or Asia, a goal also pursued by the Provincial Council. This Thursday, the autonomous body held various meetings to explore connections with these North American markets.
Thus, the President of the Provincial Council, Toni Pérez, accompanied by the Director of the Costa Blanca Tourist Board, José Mancebo, met with the main airlines operating at Alicante-Elche Airport to continue increasing passenger traffic.
Meetings were held with Jet2 and Jet2 Holidays, Fly Play Airlines, Ryanair, EasyJet Airlines, and Skyup, among others. These meetings served to learn about new routes for the high season at Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport.
Ryanair, which increased its passenger numbers by 18% this winter, announced three new routes for the summer, one to Poland and two to Austria, in addition to basing two new aircraft at its Alicante base.

Another major development comes from Sky Up, which will connect the Costa Blanca with Moldova with two weekly frequencies, while Jet2 will also add new links with the United Kingdom, although the locations have not been disclosed, beyond a new flight to London as this airline opens a new base at one of the London airports.
Fly Play, an Icelandic company that connects Reykjavik with Alicante with two weekly frequencies, has conveyed to the Provincial Council its intention to increase frequency in the summer with a direct flight. The Tourist Board is already working with the airline to make this possible.
Finally, EasyJet, which has grown by 12% thanks to its base opened last year at Alicante-Elche Airport and thanks to routes like Naples and Athens, has concluded several press trips and promotional actions with the Provincial Council.
Pérez acknowledged that "we must focus our promotional efforts on retaining emerging markets such as the Polish, Austrian, or Moldovan, with travelers coming especially from Ukraine, as well as the Italian, German, or French."
