Hércules is quietly working on assembling the squad for the 25-26 season and has yet to announce any signings or the list of departures, some of which are expected, such as centre-backs Josema and Del Moral, midfielder Mario García, winger Alvarito, or forward Dani Romera. This list could also include attacker Richie Dapaah, who is recovering from a serious injury that will sideline him for the preseason and the first months of competition. Additionally, Dapaah will lose his under-23 status next season, further limiting his opportunities.
With the Hogueras festival approaching, the new Hércules team is filled with uncertainties, and the only certainty is that Rubén Torrecilla will remain in charge and will count on these eight first-team players: goalkeepers Carlos Abad and Nando Almodóvar; defenders Samu Vázquez and Alejandro Sotillos; midfielders Ben Hamed (signed from Amorebieta) and Roger Colomina; and forwards Oriol Soldevila and Nico Espinosa.
Apart from the aforementioned players, there is a long list of footballers who still belong to Hércules (until June 30) whose future is uncertain:
1. ALBERTO RETUERTA, RETU
The left-back has played almost every match because Abraham del Moral was never an option due to injuries. Torrecilla requested another left-back in January due to Retu's poor first half of the season, but Arumí did not convince him, and the Madrid-born player ended up raising his level and becoming indispensable. He has a contract for the next season, but Hércules wants to strengthen that position.
2. ANTONIO MONTORO
Despite being the most-played centre-back and having a contract for next season, Hércules is unsure if he should remain in the squad as they seek other profiles with more height for the defence. Sotillos' versatility, who can play as a right-back, gives him an advantage to continue.
3. CARLOS MANGADA
The Alicante-born pivot has a contract, but in his second season with the team, he played even less than in the first. Torrecilla remains in charge and wants more authoritative profiles for the midfield. Paco Peña has always advocated for Mangada's continuity, and it remains to be seen if he will impose his view again this summer.
4. JAVI MORENO
The winger from Almería has yet to respond to the renewal offer made by Hércules several weeks ago, which would make him the highest-paid player in the squad. Javi Moreno wants to play in the Second Division or, failing that, secure a lucrative contract after making a difference this season in the Primera RFEF. Hércules is growing tired of waiting.
5. ANTONIO ARANDA
He has a contract and plenty of talent, but his inconsistency raises many doubts. His first half of the season was good, scoring spectacular goals worthy of a higher category, but the second half was marred by physical problems, and he ended the season out of shape. He could leave if the market offers more reliable attacking midfielders.
6. JOSÉ ARTILES
The Canary Islands-born midfielder's contract is expiring, but the club hinted that he is part of their plans and would be offered a renewal. Torrecilla has great faith in him, has praised him on numerous occasions, and he is a strong figure in the dressing room. However, he has not renewed yet, and it is clear that changes are needed in the midfield if the team is to fight for promotion.
7. AGUS COSCIA
He finished the season as the second top scorer with eight goals (only behind Oriol Soldevila), and Hércules wants him to stay, but it remains to be seen if the Argentine is convinced to continue with a reduced contract and, presumably, a secondary role.
8. YANIS SENHADJI
One of Hércules' main objectives this summer is to secure the loan of the Betis forward, an under-19 international with Spain. He tore his meniscus in his debut against Yeclano, only playing 25 minutes, and Hércules hopes the striker feels indebted to the club. He would occupy an under-23 spot, making him even more sought after in the market.
