The University of Alicante is preparing to experience new elections. The Governing Council held this Thursday has approved by majority the call for elections and the calendar that will govern the electoral period on the San Vicente campus.
These new elections are marked by two important novelties. The first, that votes will be cast electronically over two days. This eliminates early voting due to the lack of physical presence. The second, the reduction of campaign days from fifteen to six school days compared to the last elections.
After the call for elections approved this Thursday, the next date on the calendar will be from October 21 to 25 with the public display of the electoral census, which includes all members of the university community -students, teaching and research staff, and administrative and service staff- with voting rights. During this same period, claims against the census can be submitted before its final publication on the 30th.

From October 31, candidacies can be submitted at the General Registry of the University of Alicante, which will remain open until November 7. One possible scenario in these elections is a tie. This situation would be announced on November 29, announcing a second round. December 2 and 3 would serve as a period for claims against candidates entering this new process.
If this occurs, the definitive proclamation of candidates entering this second round would be published on December 9, one day before a new electronic voting day that would remain open until December 11.
