Coco Gauff faced more challenges getting to the bathroom than advancing to the second round of the Australian Open. The American defeated her compatriot Sofia Kenin with a double 6-3 in just 81 minutes, and her next match will be against Britain's Jodie Burrage. The match was uneventful due to the dominance of the third seed aiming for the first Grand Slam of the year, although she admitted afterwards that she had a tough time, albeit not because of her opponent.

In the post-match interview conducted on the court, Coco Gauff revealed that she had issues with the dress she wears at the Australian Open due to the difficulty of removing it.

"It's not the first time I've worn it; a couple of times I've had to ask an umpire to help me unzip it to go to the bathroom, but you have to sacrifice for fashion," Gauff noted as the audience laughed, incredulous at the American tennis player's story.

The outfit "is like a jumpsuit" because it aims to emulate the costumes of some Marvel superheroes. The dress, by New Balance, is not easy to put on and take off, as the tennis player herself confessed: "First I put on the bottom part and then you have to pull it over your head... On top of that, I wear a skirt." She also mentioned that "I wore basketball-inspired shoes because of my father."

Gauff, the latest winner of the WTA Finals, is aiming to leave Australia as the world number one if she wins the title and if Swiatek falls before the third round and Aryna Sabalenka does not reach the semi-finals. If she achieves this, it would be her second Grand Slam, following the US Open victory in 2023.

It remains to be seen if she will continue wearing the same outfit against Britain's Jodie Burrage or opt for something easier to remove.
