The Local Government Board of Elcha has approved the tender for the construction of a new headquarters for the Elda Local Police. The new facility will be located at the current site, covering an area of 1,500 square metres.
The bidding process is now open for companies to submit their proposals for this project, which has a budget of 2.5 million euros. It is part of the ambitious 'Elda parte de ti' investment plan, which allocates over 40 million euros to transform the city in terms of accessibility, sustainability, green spaces, and children's recreational areas, as well as the preservation of local heritage.
The new Local Police building, designed by architect Antonio Marí, will replace the current facility. The aim is to provide the police with modern and functional installations that enhance the quality of service offered to the city's residents.
Furthermore, this new building will be more modern, accessible, and energy-efficient, equipped with the latest technology in security and communications, enabling a swift and effective response to any emergency.
Notably, the construction materials will be more sustainable, reducing environmental impact and carbon footprint. It will have an A-class energy certificate thanks to an aerothermal system that combines cold and hot air machines and will be equipped with solar panels on the roof.
Additionally, all facilities will be designed to be accessible to people with reduced mobility, ensuring inclusion and universal access. The building will have a ground floor and two upper levels, with access via the intermediate floor from Paseo de la Mora, where a pedestrian ramp will be located.
The building's modular construction guarantees durability and allows for easy expansion or repurposing in the future. It will also feature a large meeting room for over 150 people, as well as offices suitable for daily work and facilities for the accident, Viogen, and Tutor Agent departments.
The expected completion time is between 9 and 12 months, revitalising facilities where the Local Police have been since 2001, and which previously housed the Sempere and Guarinos school, making the current building over 45 years old.
"The creation of a new Local Police headquarters allows us to improve the services offered to the public while providing our officers with safer and more suitable facilities for their crucial daily work, ensuring the safety and assistance of thousands of Elda residents," stated the Councillor for Public Space, José Antonio Amat. He emphasised that "the local government continues to demonstrate that the 'Elda parte de ti' investment plan is a reality, fulfilling the planned investments to enhance our city through more modern, sustainable, accessible, and efficient public spaces."
