The Civil Guard received information at the beginning of the year indicating that numerous drug addicts frequently visited a residence in Santa Pola where heroin, hashish, and anxiolytics were allegedly sold, and where they could also be consumed in a 'smoking area' set up by the suspect, who was renting the property, according to investigation sources.

Investigators from the Santa Pola Main Post's Investigation Area conducted surveillance and monitoring for three months to dismantle the drug sales point that had negatively impacted the safety and harmony of the peaceful coastal town. The operation resulted in the arrest of the suspect, a 66-year-old Brazilian citizen with a history of drug trafficking, according to investigation sources.

Investigations revealed that the trafficker acquired drugs in a neighbourhood in Elche to later distribute them from a residence in Santa Pola, where he lived as a tenant. Several drug possession reports were filed against buyers during the investigation, along with a comprehensive photographic report of the drug transactions, which strengthened the case for a search and entry into the suspect's residence, the same sources indicate.

Inside the residence, one kilogram of hashish, 350 anxiolytic medication tablets, a short air gun resembling a real firearm, various artisanal pipes used for heroin consumption, cutting materials for heroin dose preparation, a precision scale, and various utensils used in substance manipulation, spoons coated with this substance, and 200 euros in cash were seized.

The detainee, along with the seized items, was brought before the Court of Instruction No. 2 of the Judicial District of Elche, which ordered his release with precautionary measures. The investigation remains open, and further actions are not ruled out.
