Temperatures of 40°C Elevate Fire Risk to Extreme Across the Province
Firefighters Had to Extinguish a Blaze in Cocentaina This Sunday

The high temperatures experienced in Alicante this weekend have elevated the risk of forest fires to an extreme level across the province. This alert materialised this Sunday with the declaration of a forest fire in the municipality of Cocentaina, specifically in the camí dels Trilles.
According to the Emergencies 112CV service, the fire was declared shortly before 12:00 and was not controlled until 13:12.
The firefighting operation involved two units of forest firefighters from the Generalitat Valenciana, two fire engines, three teams from the Alicante Provincial Firefighters, an environmental agent, a fire prevention unit, and an aerial unit.
Maximums of 46º
The extreme weather conditions facing Alicante have recorded temperatures close to 40°C, such as in Orihuela, where, according to Avamet data, 38.8°C was reached. Meanwhile, Villena recorded 38°C, while in l'Orxa and Pedreguer, thermometers showed maximums of 37.3°C.
High values were also recorded in many other parts of the peninsula. The highest value was recorded in El Granado (Huelva), with 46°C, followed by Montoro (Córdoba) with 44°C; Fuentes de Andalucía (Seville) with 43.9°C; Morón de la Frontera (Seville) and Alconchel (Badajoz) with 43.5°C; and Andújar (Jaén) with 43.4°C.
