Telecinco is beginning to see signs of recovery after a forgettable start to the year. Such is the swift nature of television. The Mediaset channel managed to reclaim second place in March with a 10.7% audience share, marking a significant increase of 1.1 points compared to February. It also overtook La 1, which, despite sports broadcasts and programming changes to recover, recorded a 10.3% share, losing two-tenths compared to the previous month. Despite this, Antena 3 comfortably maintained its leadership in the ratings with a 12.5%, although it dropped three-tenths in the monthly rankings.

Telecinco began 2025 with a catastrophic figure: 8.6%, its worst historical mark in January. Nearly four points behind its main rival, Antena 3. Mediaset, led by the new General Director of Content, Alberto Carullo, decided to take decisive action and initiate a series of strategic changes at the channel. The most drastic and visible change for viewers was moving Ana Rosa Quintana back to her natural habitat, the mornings, after her 'TardeAR' failed to take off in the afternoon slot. Nonetheless, 'El programa de AR' rose by half a point in March (14.4% and 345,000) compared to the previous month; an improvement that helped boost Joaquín Prat's 'Vamos a ver', which closed its monthly average with a historic record (14% and 490,000 followers).

In the afternoon, 'El diario de Jorge' also achieved its best result (9.3% and 793,000). In prime time, Telecinco also stood out with the final stretch of 'The Island of Temptations', which averaged a 24.3% share and 1,956,000 viewers; the premiere of 'Survivors 2025', with the best figure of the last four editions (22.7%); the fiction 'La Favorita 1922', the most-watched series of the season (14% and 1,290,000) or the record of 'There's Something I Want to Tell You' (12.1% and 1.11,000).

Football and Cinema, Two Classics

RTVE defends that La 1 achieved a 10.3% in the last month, "its best March figure since 2018". The public broadcaster achieved the most-watched event of the season so far: the Spain-Netherlands UEFA Nations League match, which drew 5,446,000 and a 37% share, while the penalties soared to 6,467,000 and a 46.2% share. 'The Promise' also achieved its best historical figure in the prime time special with the death of Jana, the protagonist (17.3% and 1,506,000 viewers); and 'MasterChef' returned as the leader (14.4% and 859,000).

Moreover, the film 'The Equalizer 2', starring Denzel Washington, became the most-watched film of the year on television on March 23, with a 23.3% share and 1,778,000 loyal viewers, although the third installment, aired on March 30, gathered 1,886,000 viewers, despite scoring a 15.5% audience share.

Once again, Antena 3 crowned itself as the leading channel. Among its strengths is Pablo Motos' 'El hormiguero', which repeats as the most-watched daily program on television with a 14.4% share and 1,939,000 viewers, beating David Broncano's 'La revuelta', which had to settle for an average of 12.7% in March, its lowest share to date, with 1,683,000 viewers, recovering some after its low last month (1,627,000). In the afternoon, 'Pasapalabra' remained unrivaled (18.3% and 1,895,000) and 'La ruleta de la suerte' achieved its best March since 2009 (22.4% and 1,686,000). 'The Challenge' also improved the figures of its previous edition by averaging 15% and 1,443,000 followers.

Finally, 'Antena 3 Noticias' averaged an 18.9% and just over 2 million viewers in its editions. Sandra Golpe's newscast stood out, achieving its best share since August 2007 with a 23.3% and 2,223,000 followers. In prime time, Vicente Vallés closed March with a 17.9% and 2,201,000 viewers. La 1's 'Telediario' (11.2% and 1,197,000) is the second most-watched option, with Telecinco's (9.8% and 1,055,000) in third place.

Other Channels

At the lower end of the table, La Sexta (6.7%) once again outperformed Cuatro (5.9%), while La 2 remained at 2.7%. Energy (2.5%), FDF (2.3%), and Nova (2%) led the most-watched DTT thematic channels in March. Additionally, the group of regional channels closed the month with a 9.8%. TV3 (14.7%), Aragón TV (11.7%), and Canal Sur (9.6%) are the favorites among the public, according to a report by Barlovento Comunicación. This month, the total television usage time per person per day is 3 hours and 53 minutes.
