BYD Takes a Bold Step with the Dolphin Surf: An Electric Vehicle Starting at €11,780

BYD makes a significant impact in the European market with the launch of the BYD Dolphin Surf. This new model, the most affordable from the brand to date, enters the market with a starting price of €19,990, which can be reduced to an impressive €11,780 with brand campaigns and the MOVES III plan with scrappage. The arrival of the Dolphin Surf is set to shake up the electric B-segment.

With compact dimensions (3,990 mm in length) ideal for the city, the Dolphin Surf surprises with the spaciousness of its cabin and boot, comparable to those of a higher segment, thanks to BYD's advanced e-Platform 3.0. Its design combines functionality with a playful touch, featuring a unique arch profile, ascending body lines, and a rear spoiler that optimizes aerodynamics. Elements like the light strip across the rear and cleanly designed headlights enhance its personality.

The Dolphin Surf integrates BYD's first 8-in-1 electric propulsion system as standard and the acclaimed Blade Battery, available in two capacities: 30 kWh (Active version) with up to 322 km of combined range; and 43.2 kWh (Boost and Comfort versions) providing up to 507 km of range in urban environments.

Regarding powertrains, all with front-wheel drive, there are three options: Active, with 65 kW (88 hp), accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.1 seconds; Boost, with the same motor but a 43.2 kWh battery, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds; and Comfort (top of the range), which with 115 kW (156 hp) and 220 Nm, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds.

The charging capabilities are also competitive, with 65 kW DC for the Active and 85 kW DC for Boost and Comfort, allowing a charge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes. The 11 kW AC charging is standard, completing a charge in 3.5 or 5 hours.

Connected interior and standard safety

The Dolphin Surf's cabin stands out with its 2,500 mm wheelbase and a 10.1-inch electric rotating touchscreen standard across all versions, featuring "Hi BYD" voice control and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The boot offers 308 litres, expandable to 1,037 litres. Additionally, it incorporates Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, allowing external device charging.

All versions of the Dolphin Surf come equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) as standard, including intelligent cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure assist.

The sale price makes this model particularly attractive, starting at €9,990 (from €11,780 with campaigns and MOVES III) for the Dolphin Surf Active. The "top of the range," Dolphin Surf Comfort, is priced at €26,490 (from €18,280 with campaigns and MOVES III).

Additionally, BYD strengthens its offer with a direct aid of €4,500 (anticipating MOVES III) and financing options. The first 500 orders will receive a complimentary BYD charger of up to 11 kW. The model comes with a 6-year or 150,000 km warranty, and the battery and electric motor have an 8-year warranty.
