The Supreme Court has upheld prison sentences of 22 and 27 and a half years for two women convicted of 'savage sexual exploitation' of women they lured from South American countries, particularly Colombia, to work as prostitutes in Spain. The two pimps were arrested in Talavera de la Reina (Toledo) in 2019 following an inspection at a nightclub in Valladolid as part of the National Police's Strategic Plan to Combat Human Trafficking.

The victims were recruited from families facing economic difficulties with the promise of employment in Spain. However, upon arrival, they were forced into prostitution in cities such as Talavera de la Reina, Barcelona, Bilbao, or Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres) and were required to repay a travel debt exceeding 10,000 euros. They were also isolated in the apartments where they worked and subjected to intense psychological pressure. The accused were initially convicted by the Provincial Court of Toledo and later by the High Court of Justice of Castilla-La Mancha for crimes including human trafficking for sexual exploitation, facilitating illegal immigration, offences against foreigners' rights, prostitution-related crimes, coercion, threats, and money laundering.

Now, the Supreme Court has confirmed the sentences for the 'savage sexual exploitation' they endured. The victims were required to be available 24 hours a day, could not choose their clients, had to obey their bosses at all times, and faced various threats, including death threats against their families in America if they disobeyed. The convicted individuals must also compensate four of their victims with 6,000 euros each.
