Sumar has indicated that it is opening a process to gather information regarding the allegations on social media against its parliamentary spokesperson, Íñigo Errejón, for inappropriate behavior with women. It has informed that this morning he submitted his resignation, which has been unanimously accepted. A process that, according to sources from the organization, began to take shape since Tuesday.

In a statement explaining that Sumar, as soon as it had information about these complaints on social media, activated this investigation and that this morning the now former deputy presented the statement he made public on social media and his determination to resign "irrevocably."

The party's executive has met urgently and after listening to the "reasons stated" by Errejón himself, it has decided to unanimously accept his resignation. "From Sumar, we aspire to build a just society and feminist politics, and that requires a firm commitment in all areas," the organization states. At the same time, parliamentary sources indicate that Errejón has formalized his resignation from his seat in Congress. His seat will be held by the leader of Más Madrid, Alda Recas.

At an organizational level, Errejón's resignation impacts the level of his second state assembly, as he had been designated as responsible for drafting the political paper of the organization, in preparation for the next electoral cycle.

“Toxic Subjectivity”

In that statement released on the social network 'X', Errejón expressed himself in enigmatic terms to detail that he had mental and emotional health problems.

“This generates a toxic subjectivity that in the case of men, the patriarchy multiplies, with male and female colleagues, with organizational colleagues, with affective relationships, and even with oneself,” recounts the former spokesperson of Sumar. In fact, he points out that in this "intense and accelerated" political cycle, he has reached the "limit of the contradiction between the character and the person."
