The Institute for Health and Biomedical Research of Alicante (Isabial) successfully held the third edition of the open science days 'Open Days', held at the Auditorium of the Diputación de Alicante (ADDA).

The event brought together 600 students from 12 educational centers throughout the province, as well as 16 neighborhood and patient associations, and half a thousand attendees including healthcare professionals, researchers, and the general public, consolidating itself as a reference event to bring science closer to society in the province of Alicante.

For Isabial's Scientific Director, Dr. Cristina Alenda, who expressed her satisfaction with the high participation, "a meeting and dialogue space has been created between our researchers and citizens, promoting scientific dissemination and encouraging scientific vocations among the youngest."

After the success of this third edition, "Isabial reaffirms its commitment to scientific dissemination and the promotion of science among new generations. We are very proud of the reception that 'Open Days' have had, and we are already thinking about how to improve the format for future editions," added Dr. Alenda.

Among the novelties of this edition was the renewed format of 'Meetings with Researchers', which offered sixteen close and personalized meetings between Isabial researchers and representatives of patient and neighborhood associations from all over the province of Alicante. "These meetings have allowed for more direct dialogue between our researchers and society, ensuring that the research we conduct better responds to the real health needs of the Alicante population," said Isabial's Scientific Director.

At this event, attendees also enjoyed a varied program that included exhibitions, interactive workshops, and simulations for young people and adults. Additionally, health education topics such as myths around vaping, fatty liver disease, and sexually transmitted infections were addressed, among others.

These activities were designed both to foster scientific vocations and to raise awareness about healthy habits among young people.

Among the participating associations were noted: Parkinson's Association of Alicante, Alzheimer's Association and other dementias of Vega Baja, Liver Disease and Transplant Patients Association of Valencia Community, ADELA, Aspanion, Adema, Rare Diseases Association of Elche, San Gabriel Neighborhood Association, Adacea, Serra Grossa Neighborhood Association, AMES, and National Association of Sarcoidosis Patients (ANES), among others.
