May is coming in strong. With the roar of thunder and masclet. The prelude to June, the grand month of Alicante's Hogueras, aims to leave its mark on the city with no less than seven mascletàs over the weekends. Eight if we count the one in the San Blas neighbourhood on Sunday.
After their baptism of fire, the new 'belleas del foc', Adriana Vico and Valentina Tárraga, along with their dames d'honor, are preparing for the final stretch towards June. Especially towards their grand week, from the 21st to the 24th, the official days of Alicante's Hogueras.
To remind everyone, including the rest of Alicante's residents, the different districts have organised several mascletàs spread throughout May's calendar, before giving way to a fiery June.
