On Tuesday, the United States confirmed it had conducted strikes against Houthi military targets, particularly in Sana'a, the capital of Yemen, which is under the control of these Iran-backed rebels.
These strikes, carried out on Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st, targeted "a Houthi command and control site" among other locations, including production and storage sites "that house missiles and drones," according to the US Central Command for the Middle East (Centcom) on the social network X. These sites, it added, were used in operations against US warships and commercial vessels in the region.
Centcom reported bombing sites controlled by the Houthis in Sana'a and along the Yemeni coast. "Additionally, US Navy and Air Force aircraft destroyed a Houthi radar site on the coast, seven cruise missiles, and attack drones over the Red Sea," it detailed.
Houthi spokesman Mohammed Abdulsalam condemned the "US aggression" as "a clear violation of the sovereignty of an independent state and blatant support for Israel."
Since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, the Houthis have launched missiles and drones against Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians. The Yemeni rebels have also targeted ships linked to Israel, the United States, or the United Kingdom navigating the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
