Trade unions CGT, CNT, Intersindical, and COS have called for participation in a general strike in the Valencian Community this Thursday, 29th May, coinciding with the seven-month anniversary of the storm in October that hit Valencia, resulting in 228 fatalities. The workers' organisations are protesting against the handling of the emergency and demanding the resignation of the Generalitat's president, Carlos Mazón.
This strike across the autonomous region will also impact various services in Alicante, from public transport to healthcare services. Consequently, the Directorate-General for Labour, under the Ministry of Employment, has had to establish minimum services.
Regarding transport, the Alicante Tram will operate at 80% minimum services. This will result in reduced frequency this Thursday, so it is advised to check the special schedules for the day.

In Alicante city, interurban transport will also maintain the strike planned for this Thursday, 29th May, although in this case for labour reasons. The strike coincides with the Alicante City Council's plenary session as a response, according to its organisers, to the "lack of concrete progress by the competent administrations and the company itself".
Interurban road passenger transport (regular and discretionary) will operate at 65% of the service on routes to workplaces, 80% for connections to airports, ports, and railway stations in tourist areas, and 20% for discretionary services.
The strike, coinciding with a new demonstration (the eighth) against the management of the storm, will also affect other essential services, such as healthcare. Here, the Labour resolution has set Saturday-level services for health centres and auxiliary clinics, "which are the minimum necessary to meet the population's needs".
Specialty centres will have 25% of the staff on a regular day for attending priority consultations, while home care will operate at 50% of the usual day "to ensure non-deferrable healthcare".
Hospitals and emergencies
In hospitals, Sunday-level services will be provided in: hospitalisation wards, urgent central services, emergency operating theatres, hospital emergency services, kitchens, maintenance, and telephone switchboards. Regular day services will be maintained in dialysis, radiotherapy, transplant programmes, ICU and Recovery Units, day hospitals, and Oncology.
Hospital pharmacy, scheduled surgeries, and home hospitalisation will have 50% of services, while external priority consultations will operate at 25% of the regular day. Emergency medical services (CICU, SAMU, and SVA) will function normally, and SVB and TSNU will be at 80%.
Schools
In the education sector, the minimum service resolution differentiates between the various educational stages. In Infant and Primary schools, there will be one teacher per educational stage, with a minimum of one for every four units; in Secondary, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, language teaching, and artistic education, one teacher per educational stage, with a minimum of one for every ten units. In the case of specific Special Education centres, two educators for every five units.
