Dahellos Street in Elda has completed its transformation into the Best Footwear Boulevard this Friday afternoon. This central street has been renovated to be accessible, with new spaces to rest under orange and olive trees, and features innovative arch-shaped lighting that can change colour according to needs.

All of this aims to give a new character to this historic street in the city. From now on, the Best Footwear Boulevard will commemorate the 20 women awarded the prestigious prize for being the best-shod in our country, through commemorative plaques installed on the pavement with their respective names and the year they were awarded.

Therefore, the Elda City Council wanted to commemorate this March 8th, International Women's Day, by highlighting all these women who have carried the name of Elda throughout Spain and the world, showcasing the footwear manufactured in our city, a hallmark of Elda and a reference for quality, design, and craftsmanship.

The new Best Footwear Boulevard on Dahellos Street is a single-platform road, without steps or slopes, where the safety of blind people has also been enhanced with the installation of tactile paving to guide their movements. Additionally, the new furniture installed will allow for moments of rest and outdoor enjoyment with modules serving as benches next to planters with tree species, increasing the comfort of passers-by and making the commercial activity of this street more attractive.

Innovative Lighting System

The innovative LED lighting system installed, consisting of 15 undulating arches designed to illuminate the entire street, will give Dahellos Street its own character. Its multiple luminaires provide homogeneous lighting with low consumption, and its intelligent control also allows for the adjustment of light intensity and the colour of the luminaires, which can change to commemorate events or important days for the city and its citizens.

Similarly, to avoid disturbing the residents' rest, the lighting reduces its intensity after a certain hour to minimise its impact.

It should be remembered that the works, carried out by the Department of Public Space, Investments, and European Funds, are part of Elda's Sustainable Tourism Plan and have been financed with Next Generation EU Funds, through the Government of Spain's Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, in collaboration with the Generalitat Valenciana through Turisme Comunitat Valenciana.
