During the night, the roles reversed as day turned into night in the Vega Baja region. The storm that battered the Comunitat last night particularly targeted the southernmost region of the province. So much so that nearly half of all lightning strikes in the Comunitat occurred there.

According to records from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), 271 strikes were recorded in Vega Baja. Across the entire Comunitat, there were a total of 644 strikes, with the remainder distributed among the regions of Valencia and Castellón. In Castellón's Plana Baixa, there were 40 strikes, 37 in Camp de Morvedre, and 36 in Camp de Túria, both in Valencia.
Fewer strikes were recorded in the regions of Valencia's Valle de Cofrentes-Ayora (25), Castellón's Alto Palancia (22), Alicante's Baix Vinalopó (21), or Castellón's Plana Alta (18). In other words, 42% of all strikes were seen in southern Alicante.
Lluvias torrenciales
In towns like Pilar de la Horadada, the storm left 76.7 litres per square metre, with 60 of those accumulating in just 20 minutes.
The northern part of the province was not spared from the storm either. The Marina Alta woke up this Friday to flooded roads, such as in Dénia, where some roads were closed due to water accumulation, while others had alert warnings.
Hours after the summer's heavy downpour, several roads have reopened to traffic, except for the L'Alberca ravine and Joan Fuster street, which have turned into a lake due to the water.
