Within Stellantis' strategy, one of its strongest pillars is its commercial vehicles. Notably, the small vans, derived from passenger cars, roll off the production lines in Vigo.
The Galician plant, which has played an instrumental role in the expansion of these models and their market leadership, is capable of exceeding half a million units annually, with the majority being what is internally known as K-9.
This model forms the basis for the Citroën Berlingo, Peugeot Partner, Opel Combo, Fiat Doblò, and even the Toyota Proace City, as well as their passenger and electric versions.
Antonio Filosa, recently appointed as the future CEO of Stellantis, visited Spain today, continuing his tour after stops in France and Italy.
Filosa, who will take the helm of Europe's second-largest manufacturer from June 23, was accompanied by the Operations and Commercial Directors, Jean-Philippe Imparato and Luca Napolitano, as well as the head of the commercial vehicle division, Pro One, Anne Aboud.
The company's executives met with the Spanish team led by the head of the Iberian subsidiary, Marco Cane, and the director of the Vigo plant, José Luis Alonso Mosquera.
Together with other officials, they toured the factory and visited the Quality, Paint, Assembly, and Box Welding areas.
After the visit, Filosa stated, "It has been a pleasure to visit Spain today and meet the team firsthand. I am impressed, but not surprised, by the commitment and enthusiasm of our colleagues, driven by a true entrepreneurial spirit."
"I am particularly excited about the CustomFit project, the new conversion and customization program that allows us to carry out conversions on commercial vehicles directly at our production plants, ensuring the highest standards of quality and flexibility. The Vigo plant is an example of expertise and maturity."
Finally, the Italian executive concluded that he was "convinced that together with the Spanish team, we will achieve great things."
