A spit in the face. That was the trigger for a bloody brawl in Benidorm that ended with glass bottles being smashed and the intervention of the National Police to prevent a tragedy. The officers arrested two of the three people involved in the fight, as TodoAlicante has learned.
The brawl began at 9:30 AM last Saturday, September 7th, on Avenida Cuenca, in Benidorm's well-known 'tourist zone.' According to information gathered by this newspaper, two citizens, one Algerian and one Moroccan, got into a fight due to a "lack of respect."
The conflict escalated in aggression when one of them spat in the other's face. The response: a bottle smashed over the head, causing severe bleeding. Following this, another person entered the scene—the romantic partner of the assaulted man—who, armed with a glass bottle, did not hesitate to deliver justice by smashing it over the attacker's head.
With blood gushing from one of the involved parties' faces, the fight continued under the incredulous gaze of passersby enjoying a peaceful sunny morning in the tourist capital of Costa Blanca.
With both men on the ground, the woman re-entered the fray and repeated her assault, smashing another bottle over the head. At that moment, officers from Benidorm's National Police arrived and intervened to stop the seemingly endless brawl.
With order restored, police officers proceeded to arrest the two aggressors: a 28-year-old Spanish woman and a 41-year-old Algerian man. Both are charged with assault.
