Spectacular rescue carried out by the Civil Guard, alongside firefighters and the Orihuela Local Police, on a cliff in Cabo Roig. A Danish resident was trapped among rocks in a steep eight-metre-high area. The security forces had to work hard to evacuate the victim.
The incident occurred on June 10th, around 1:40 PM, in a rocky area of the Cabo Roig urbanisation. The Civil Guard received a report of a person falling in this hard-to-reach coastal area. The officers were guided to the location by a woman.
There, they found the injured man, trapped between the breakwater and Caleta beach on an eight-metre-high cliff. The terrain, very wet and steep, posed "a high risk for intervention," according to the Civil Guard.
Due to the risk of the tide rising and worsening the injured man's condition, the officers decided to access the location. Once the man was located, and with the first firefighter units, they moved the injured man to a safer and more stable area. It was around 2 PM, thanks to the coordination between the three security forces, that they extracted the injured man from the area.
They used a stretcher to lift him to an accessible area, from where he was carried over 600 metres uphill to the extraction point. There, he was attended to by medical personnel and transferred to Torrevieja Hospital.
