The new Spanish Grand Prix of Formula One at the urban circuit 'Madring' now has an official date. This announcement was made at the FIA World Motor Sport Council, which is meeting this week in Macau, confirming that the next World Championship will feature a total of 24 races. The weekend of September 11-13 will see the first Formula One race in history to be held in a European capital.

The Madrid race will be the second event held in Spain in 2026, as three months earlier - from June 12-14 - the new Barcelona-Catalunya GP will take place at the Circuit, maintaining its traditional dates and following the iconic Monaco GP.

However, the Spanish GP at the Ifema Madrid venue is marked with an asterisk in the table published by FIA and Formula One. This detail is due to a purely legal matter, as the track is not yet completed and therefore cannot be officially certified. The construction began last May, and it is expected that there will be no issues with the certification, similar to other circuits that have debuted in recent years, such as Miami.

The Madrid circuit, known as 'Madring', will be a 5,470-meter urban track with 22 turns, expected to be fast, technical, and challenging for drivers. It includes a banked corner - with a 24% gradient - named 'La Monumental', in homage to the Las Ventas bullring. The GP will consist of 57 laps, with an estimated lap time of 1 minute and 32 seconds, reaching top speeds of up to 340 km/h.
