2024 has been a remarkable year for the Elche-based company PLD Space. A few months ago, they inaugurated their new facilities, spanning over 12,000 square meters, in the Elche Business Park, where they will manufacture their Miura 5 rockets, enabling satellite launches into space. During the presentation of this factory, they also outlined their roadmap for the next decade, including announcements such as the first manned capsule that will carry passengers to the moon: the Lince Project.
The company has concluded the current fiscal year by establishing itself as a benchmark in the global space launch sector, having secured €170 million in funding to date. Notable contributions include €40.5 million from the Spanish Government's Aerospace PERTE and a €31.2 million loan from ICO and Banco Santander.
Looking ahead to 2026, the year when the first commercial mission of the Miura 5 will take place, PLD Space has conducted various tests of the launcher throughout the year at their Teruel test site, where different parts of the rocket have been tested. The rocket will be manufactured at the Elche headquarters, a state-of-the-art facility capable of producing up to six complete launchers and 60 Terel-C engines annually.
Among other significant announcements made this year is the partnership with Deimos, with whom they will co-lead the development of the Miura 5's Guidance, Navigation, and Control system, a technology that will enable these missions dedicated to putting small satellites into orbit.
