Water is life, and Alicante owes its character to the Mediterranean that bathes the Postiguet beach. This is the essence of the work that artist Sergio Gómez has prepared for 2025 with 'H2O', the Official Children's Bonfire. The creator aims to transform the art of the monument into an educational moment for children across the city, focusing on water.

The monument, now on display in the Town Hall Square, right next to 'Identity' by Pedro Espadero, highlights the importance of this liquid. It also illustrates its cycle and three states: solid, liquid, and gaseous. Through charming figures, children can also learn about phenomena such as precipitation and condensation.

With water as the protagonist, this monument showcases the diversity this element offers. The bonfire is filled with aquatic animals, as well as those inhabiting the Arctic.

Gómez explained that this bonfire is not only beautiful but also educational, aiming to raise awareness among the young: "although they are often more aware than adults," the artist acknowledges.

In the coming days, thousands of children will visit the Town Hall Square to see the official monument that Sergio Gómez has dedicated to the youngest. Among the first to see it was the children's bellea del foc, Valentina Tárraga, who found it "super special and magical".

This girl with fiery eyes admits she "never had such a large bonfire" and was thrilled to learn about the figures that will be saved from the flames so each girl can have a memento of her reign.

Express Plantà

The plantà of 'H2O' took its builder only a few hours. As Sergio Gómez, who has been setting up this monument for 10 consecutive years, knows from experience, the key lies in transportation. In fact, the trucks with the pieces for the Official Children's Bonfire 'slept' in the Town Hall Square the night before.

Thus, the artist's team could start working at 7 a.m. on Wednesday and have everything ready. By noon, the monument was almost complete, except for the explanatory plaques that arrived throughout the afternoon.

This Thursday, the city's children can already enjoy the monument dedicated to them for the 2025 Bonfires.
