Mayor of Alicante, Luis Barcala, has praised the 'exemplary' work carried out by the Alinur Foundation, led by Leonor Martínez, in support of people with intellectual disabilities. The mayor expressed this appreciation during the eleventh edition of the 'Solidarity Bag', held at the Amérigo Passage. Barcala also emphasized that 'this event has become the first of the gatherings that heralds the spirit of support for others typical of Christmas.'

'One bag, one hope' was the motto of the event where around 400 attendees had the opportunity to purchase one of the bags from the 'Cuplé Moda' brand at a price lower than retail. The 60 euros from each bag are allocated to various scholarships managed by the Alinur Foundation for families with economic inequalities, individuals with special educational needs, and children with special educational needs in learning, language, and/or behaviour.

The 'Solidarity Bag' also supports initiatives such as the Alinur Foundation's Beneficial Congress on Artificial Intelligence; the observatory aimed at researching the current needs of intellectual disabilities, or the 'Stories with Love' project, designed for young people with intellectual disabilities, 'who experience a novel and inclusive experience as storytellers in Infant and Primary classrooms in Alicante schools,' as explained by Leonor Martínez.

Barcala, accompanied by councillors Julio Calero, Cristina Cutanda, Nayma Beldjilali, Begoña León, and Lidia López, finally commented that 'if the work carried out by the Alinur Foundation seems quiet, which is commendable and enhances its prestige, from the Alicante City Council we have sought to make it visible as it deserves. It is for this reason that one of the Royal Pages for 2025 is Nuria Coves, the director of the Alinur centres.' Among these are the 'Alinur Kids' psychopedagogy and child psychology centre, the special education and training centre, the Alinur residential centre, and the psychology centre for adolescents and adults.
