Public transport in the Generalitat is undergoing modernization. The Department of Environment, Infrastructure, and Territory, along with the company Vectalia, has begun installing smart panels in the Elx Rodalia metropolitan transport network, aiming to promote sustainable mobility and offer a more efficient, user-oriented service.

The initiative, driven by Vectalia as part of the Generalitat's public transport modernization policies, plans to install ten digital totems at network stops. One is already operational in Crevillent, according to the Consell.

These devices provide real-time information such as stop names, available lines, destinations, and estimated bus arrival times. They also feature informational thermometers and LED screens that constantly update data to facilitate travel and enhance the travel experience.

One of the main innovations of these totems is their energy autonomy. They are powered by solar energy, with a photovoltaic panel integrated into their top, allowing them to operate without connection to the electrical grid, thus reducing environmental impact.

The Director General of Transport and Logistics, Manuel Ríos, highlighted the service improvement for users resulting from public-private collaboration. "This is one of the new concessions that has come into service as part of the concession map renewal process, which involves both an improvement in frequencies and services and a commitment to sustainability by replacing combustion vehicles with more sustainable and electrified ones," remarked the Director General.

The Elx Rodalia interurban metropolitan transport network connects Elche with Alicante, Crevillent, Santa Pola, and Gran Alacant, and has been operational since August 2023. It is the first low-emission bus network in the Valencian Community, managed under administrative concession by Vectalia.

The service includes two express lines without intermediate stops. Line 250 connects Alicante and Elche in just 25-30 minutes, with 27 daily trips in each direction and a frequency of approximately 30 minutes. Meanwhile, line 252 links Crevillent and Alicante directly in 50 minutes, with eight daily services in each direction.

The fleet consists of 18 low-emission buses, all accessible and equipped with Wi-Fi and USB chargers. Additionally, three new routes have been created, and service frequencies have been increased, boosting the number of trips by 57% and improving service levels by 60%.
