On Thursday, April 10, the Alicante City Council will organise the sixth edition of the Employment and Training Fair in the streets adjacent to the Centro 14 Unamuno in Virgen del Remedio. The event, running from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, will see participation from hundreds of young students from nine city institutes and 22 entities related to employment and youth sectors. It will also acknowledge the collaboration and internship efforts of 18 companies and introduce new opportunities for active job search.

This activity is part of the second phase of the Northern Zone Neighbourhoods Comprehensive Plan, a call made possible by the networked work carried out over six years by the Youth, Employment, Strategic Plans and European Projects, and Social Welfare departments, alongside secondary education centres, social entities, and institutions.

The Councillor for Employment and Development, Mari Carmen de España, highlighted that "students from different professional families will be the true protagonists, responsible for providing information and conducting workshops and demonstrations of the training they are undergoing at their Educational Centres. It is especially aimed at young audiences: students, professionals, or workers who are actively seeking employment. Particularly those opting for Vocational Training or Occupational Training at any level: students from 3rd and 4th ESO, Vocational Training, and Baccalaureate, as well as young and not-so-young people actively seeking employment."

The Youth Councillor, Begoña León, explained that "this fair is a great opportunity for both institutes and students who want to have a career path and find a job, as they can learn firsthand about all active job offers and the easiest way to apply for them." The councillor also emphasised "the importance of recognising youth talent, encouraging young people to have dignified employment and opportunities."

The Councillor for Strategic Plans and European Projects, Antonio Peral, and President of District Board 2, highlighted that "this is a traditional event of great importance for the neighbourhoods throughout the northern zone of the city, which require such actions that offer future opportunities for young people across the city, and we thank the collaboration of companies, entities, and institutions in this endeavour."

Description of the fair

Thus, anyone interested can have a direct experience with training and employment resources, even coming into contact with companies and entities dedicated to improving employability and job-finding possibilities. It will feature informational stands from public Vocational Training centres and entities related to occupational training and employment, authorised placement agencies, social entities, and special employment centres, in addition to a central information stand from the Alicante City Council.

Each stand will provide information about its activity, and there will be live demonstrations and workshops on bonfire construction, hairdressing and makeup, medical emergencies, sports activities, floral composition, volunteering, Erasmus, fire simulation in a home, among other children's reading workshops. Additionally, there will be a stage where workshops and exhibitions will take place throughout the morning.

For the third consecutive year, there will be recognition and appreciation for the companies collaborating with the training programmes with the educational centres in the northern zone, with entities such as Nazaret and the Gitano Secretariat Foundation, and the El Tossalet Employment Centre itself, for their special dedication, involvement, consistency, loyalty, or degree of insertion of participating students in the training of each professional family developed in them. The event will consist of a presentation of a distinctive award by students for the occasion.

Recognitions

One of the highlighted moments of this event will be the presentation of recognitions to the companies and institutions collaborating in training activities and internships, who will receive the accredited sculpture. Two hands intertwined symbolising this collaboration between companies and institutes.
