Significant Developments in the Mig Any Festivities of Moors and Christians in El Campello

On Wednesday, Councillors for Security and Festivities and Traditions, Rafa Galvañ and Marisa Navarro, convened with representatives from the Festive Board of Moors and Christians, leaders of the Local Police and the Civil Guard, and the head of Civil Protection of El Campello to finalise the security arrangements for the Mig Any festivities taking place this weekend.

During the meeting, two new measures were established for this year's security arrangements. Firstly, the Civil Guard will deploy its Citizen Security Unit, a specialised force responsible for maintaining and restoring security in urban and rural environments. Their primary role is to ensure citizen safety, prevent crimes, and respond efficiently to emergencies. Their duties range from preventive patrols to interventions in cases of disturbances or events that threaten public safety.

Additionally, the Armed Institute's canine unit, with dogs trained to detect drugs, will also be present in El Campello over the weekend.

These measures will be complemented by a preventive campaign activated by the Department of Social Welfare and Women, led by Maricarmen Alemañ, during every major festival in El Campello. 'Switch on the no mode and say no to bad vibes' encourages enjoying the events without drunkenness, drugs, aggression, or sexist behaviour.

This campaign includes setting up "violet" and "orange" tents at the venue. The first reinforces the campaign against sexist assaults during the festivities, staffed by professionals, and the second conveys the message of fully enjoying the festivities without excessive alcohol and drug use, managed by technicians from the UPCCA (Community Prevention Unit of Addictive Behaviours).
