A little over two months before the celebration of Alicante's Bonfires, the City Council has announced the prizes to be awarded following the various competitions during the main days of June. Economic awards continue for the categories of bonfires and barracas, except for the newly introduced seventh category, which will have a non-monetary prize, meaning no money will be awarded.
The creation of this new category was intended to "relieve" the smaller committees that are "more constrained" in terms of financial budgets. With this, the Federació de Fogueres aims to ensure that the affected districts do not disappear and can participate in this category for a limited time.
Thus, the municipal contest will distribute a total of 5,200 euros among the bonfires that achieve the first prize - awarded by the various juries - in their categories. Among the novelties is the merging of the sixth section and the division of the third and fifth categories.
This is due to the influx of committees in these categories. On one hand, the creation of the seventh category and the commitment of many committees to increase the funds dedicated to the bonfire have alleviated the sixth category, without the need to create two categories to participate in the contest.
This division is made to facilitate the work of the juries. Thus, having one jury for subcategory A and another for B allows the members to evaluate the bonfires distributed in this system in detail. This is the case with the creation of third A and B, and fifth A and B for this bonfire exercise.
Thus, the municipal contest will award a first and only monetary prize for all categories, except for the seventh. The winner of the Special category will receive 1,500 euros, the first category 1,000 euros, the second 600 euros, the third A and B 450 euros, the fourth 400 euros, the fifth A and B 300 euros, and the sixth 200 euros.
Additionally, the contest will award three prizes for the most innovative bonfires: 600 euros for the first; 400 for the second; and 200 for the third. Other non-monetary prizes to be awarded in this contest will be for the best critiques by category and, as exclusively reported by TodoAlicante, 'To the best barraca committee' participating in the ninot parade.
The City Council will also distribute 2,450 euros among the children's bonfires. Thus, the first and only prize will be 700 euros for the Special category, 500 for the first, 400 euros for the second, 300 euros for the third, 250 euros for the fourth, 200 euros for the fifth, and 150 euros for the sixth.
Regarding the barracas, the contest will grant a single prize for the first portalada of the Special category with 700 euros, another of 500 euros for the first category, 300 euros for the second category, and 200 euros each for the third category A and B.
It should be remembered, as reported by TodoAlicante, that the Federation of Barracas has created for 2025 the prize for the children's portalada, which will include a pennant to be awarded during the event on June 22.
The participating committees in the Band Entry will compete for three prizes worth 600, 500, and 300 euros, respectively; while for the barracas there will be a single prize worth 300 euros.
There will be another three prizes for the ninot parade of 600, 400, and 200 euros for the bonfires. The prize for the barracas will be without monetary allocation, as will the prizes for the flower offering to the Virgin of Remedio for all associations.
