The Young Renters' Allowance in the Community receives a new financial boost for the 2025 fiscal year. The First Vice-Presidency and Ministry of Social Services, Equality, and Housing has approved a credit extension of seven million euros, raising the total allocation of these aids to 29.8 million euros.

This budget increase will allow nearly 1,200 more beneficiaries, meaning that over 4,900 applicants will be able to access these aids. Compared to 2022, the beneficiaries of the Young Renters' Allowance in the Community will increase by 27% in 2025.

In this regard, the Director General of Housing, Juan Antonio Pérez Sala, stated that with this measure "the Consell manages to reach more young people who have applied and meet the requirements, and who would otherwise be excluded due to lack of budget."

He also emphasized that the Generalitat "has made improvements in the budget planning for these subsidies in both 2024 and 2025, resulting in two credit extensions that ensure a greater number of beneficiaries thanks to additional funding from the Generalitat's own resources."

Applications in "record time"

Pérez Sala highlighted the effort made by the Consell since the beginning of the legislature to address the high demand for applications, recalling that the 2023-2024 aids were resolved "in record time." He also noted that this Government, upon taking office, had to assume over six million euros of the Young Renters' Allowance "that had been left unpaid by the previous Consell."

The reinforcement of this line does not imply changes in the procedure's schedule. A new application period will not be opened, as the modification is complementary and merely extends the coverage of the current call published last March 31.

It should be noted that the expanded budget comes from the collection of the Empty Homes Tax and will allow for the accommodation of applications that meet all the established requirements in the call, which were at risk due to the exhaustion of the initial budget from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda.
