National Police consider a settling of scores as the most likely hypothesis for the shooting murder of a fair worker this Monday in the Madrid town of Alcalá de Henares. Officers from the Homicide Group V in Madrid have begun questioning the deceased's family and neighbours and are also examining the area's security cameras.
Jesús B. J., aged 49, was returning home in the El Chorrillo neighbourhood after parking his van nearby. At 8:30 in the morning, just as he was about to enter his home and next to a bar called Moya, a man got out of a car, approached him, and shot him six times in the neck, chest, and head. The weapon had a silencer, and the killer fled at high speed in the same vehicle.
Upon seeing the body lying on the ground, neighbours alerted emergency services, but the 112 paramedics could do nothing except confirm the death. The victim, who belonged to the Muñoz family, a group of fair workers from Ponferrada (León), had died instantly.
One of the lines of investigation the police are pursuing is a gambling debt. Officers are also trying to determine if the man had previously received any threats. The fact that the shooter used a silenced weapon suggests he was a hitman experienced in such crimes.
