Two Seriously Injured, Including a Nine-Year-Old Child, in Boat Explosion in Mallorca

The vessel, according to sources from the Mallorca Fire Brigade, was not docked but was in the middle of the harbour.

Two individuals have been seriously injured, one of them a nine-year-old child, following a boat explosion in Port Adriano (Mallorca). A third person sustained injuries but did not require hospitalisation.

The explosion occurred shortly after 09:10 am, with its causes currently unknown and under investigation. The vessel, as reported by the Mallorca Fire Brigade, was not docked but was in the middle of the harbour.

As a result of the explosion and subsequent fire, three people were injured, two of them seriously. One is a nine-year-old child who suffered burns, and the other is a 35-year-old man with an arm injury. Both have been taken to Son Espases University Hospital in serious condition.

The third injured person is a 33-year-old man who, despite receiving medical attention, did not require hospitalisation, according to SAMU 061.

Firefighters from the Calvià station attended the scene and managed to control the fire. Upon their arrival, the vessel was sinking and appeared to have no passengers on board, as initially reported.
