As the warmer weather arrives, it typically leads to an increase in two-wheeler sales. While April remained nearly in line with last year, this May saw an 8.5% rise, with 25,400 registrations.

The majority of these figures were from motorcycles, accounting for 23,183 sales in total, a 9.8% increase. In fact, only motorcycles and heavy quadricycles, which also belong to the L category, recorded growth, with the latter selling 8.2% more, totaling 592 units.

Conversely, mopeds ended the month with 1,074 transactions (-2.4%), marking the smallest decline of the month, followed by light quadricycles with 274 sales (-2.5%) and tricycles with 277 (-27.3%).

In cumulative terms, the market has grown slightly compared to the previous year, with a 1.9% increase reaching 96,915 transactions. Similar to May's data, the bulk is recorded by motorcycles over 125 cc, with 87,970 purchases, a 3.2% rise.

According to the general secretary of Anesdor, the association representing two-wheeler manufacturers, "We are in the peak motorcycle season, both in sales and usage, and that's why these positive figures for May are particularly valuable."

"From the industry, aware of the motorcycle's vulnerability, we want to emphasize the importance of advanced riding courses. Improving skills is crucial when responding to dangerous situations on the road," he concluded.

The electric motorcycle and light vehicle sector closed March with a total of 993 registrations (+9.4%). In the cumulative, the growth is +13% (4,313 units). The electric motorcycle grew by 5.4% in May, including mopeds.

Motorcycles recorded a 3.9% increase (107 sales), scooters a 12.3% rise (530), and mopeds fell by 11.3% (165). In the cumulative, the electric motorcycle totals 3,533 units (+17.6%).

The best-selling motorcycle in May was the Yamaha Nmax, a popular 125cc scooter that has been revamped for 2025 and frequently reaches the market podium. Specifically, its sales increased by 135.5% to 1,274 units. It was followed by its main rival, the Honda PCX, and the Chinese trail bike Vogue 900 DSX, with 820 and 807 units, respectively.
