Elche drew this Sunday in the fifth match of the season. Eder Sarabia's side could only manage to secure a point in a thrilling second half against Granada.

The Ilicitanos struck first with a goal by Nico Fernández from a penalty following a handball by a Nazarí defender.

Elche went into halftime with an advantage, but everything went haywire in the second half. Two set-piece actions by Guillermo Abascal's squad turned the scoreboard around in just three minutes.

First, a free header by Uzuni and then Loic Williams, two strategic plays that completely silenced the Martínez Valero stadium, which saw another three points slip away as they did in the first match against Huesca.

However, Elche bounced back and quickly managed to equalize thanks to the timely intervention of Mourad, who slotted home a venomous cross from Josan Fernández from the right wing.

From there, with half an hour left including stoppage time, the match could have gone either way. There were chances for both teams, but the goalkeepers were sharp and maintained the draw.

First, Marc Martínez saved the Andalusians by deflecting a close-range header, and then Dituro confidently handled a one-on-one situation against Uzuni.

The draw does little to improve Elche's standings, as they have only accumulated 4 points in the first 5 rounds of the championship. Doubts persist for another week. Elche will have another opportunity to seek victory next Sunday at 18:30 hours against Mirandés.
