The Elda City Council, through the Department of Historical Heritage, announces the launch of the second edition of the 'Elda, Frontier Territory' tour. This initiative follows the success of the pilot project launched by Historical Heritage in November and December 2024, where nearly a hundred people learned about Elda's significance across different eras and cultures.
This tour offers a historical journey through the city from a strategic perspective, reviewing the most notable borders in the municipality's history. The Councillor for Historical Heritage, Iñaki Pérez Rico, reminded the public that "through this programme, we aim to highlight the importance of El Monastil and La Torreta in defending the territory, trade, communications, and cultural exchanges."
As in the previous year, the activity will be free, and visiting groups will have a capacity of 15 people, with prior registration through the Department of Historical Heritage (phone 966 989 233 or email patrimoniohistorico@elda.es). The activities will take place on May 11 and 24, June 8 and 21, September 13 and 20, October 12 and 25, November 9 and 16, and December 7 and 21. All sessions will start at 10:00 a.m. at the location agreed upon with the heritage interpretation guide.
The first edition attracted interest from various towns in the region and province, as evidenced by the statistics. The councillor highlighted that "in this way, we add value to Elda, positioning it as a provincial reference city, and therefore extends the invitation to the entire province of Alicante."
